Banjo is a Shepherd mix puppy who is about 4 months old who was brought to Butte Humane Society as a stray in August of 2009. He is a sociable pup who prefers to be around people! For a large breed puppy he is fairly mellow, but don’t be fooled – Banjo won’t be a couch potato. He would be an excellent addition to an active home that will provide him with plenty of playtime and focused exercise such as jogging on leash, hiking, or retrieving balls and toys. Banjo likes to play and will chase a ball, although he doesn’t know how to retrieve yet! He is initially a little shy around strangers, but quickly becomes affectionate and playful and will crawl in your lap if you sit down with him. He does not know how to walk on a leash yet and would benefit from basic obedience training. Ideally, he will do best in a home without small children under the age of three due to slight mouthiness and breed size. Banjo enjoys playing with other dogs and would also do well in a home with other friendly, social dogs. He would most likely not do well in a home with cats due to his breed.
