My name is Betty, and I’m desperately trying to find a new family. I was wandering around the scary streets and someone found me and brought me here to this shelter. They sent me to the vet to have a surgery so I can’t have any babies. That way, my babies don’t have to come to shelters too, since there’s already so many of us in these places. They also put a small chip in my back that helps my family find me if I get lost. It’s hard to remember what happened to me before I came here, but it wasn’t good. I wasn’t fed very often and people never held me. I get lots of food at this place and I think they’re trying to get me to a healthy weight. Sometimes I get scared and I bite, I try not to draw blood, and I feel bad, but when I’m uncomfortable sometimes I just panic and my first thought is to protect myself. I really want to be friendly, but I’m just not used to people. The people here try to talk to me a lot and pet me every day so I’m not as scared. I know that someday I will be more comfortable, it will just take time. In my cage I also see lots of big animals… I think they’re called dogs. Those things really scare me and I ask that my new family doesn’t have any! Also, I see a lot of smaller looking people, they’re loud and they run around a lot, those scare me too! I think they’re called kids. I would be very happy if I didn’t have any of the smaller ones in my new home. The bigger and quieter kids would be okay with me as long as they’re gentle. I also want a family that is used to having rabbits like me. It would make me very happy if my new family knew how to take care of and nurture a rabbit like myself. I know I have a lot of demands, but I just want to feel safe and be happy for once! If you have room in your home and your heart, please adopt me, I promise someday we will be best friends.
